Tuning
Ascribing personalities to things like boats, cars and planes is a well established practice. I think pianos should be added to this list for they too get moody when neglected. When very out of tune, you could say that they suffer from all kinds of aches and pains. Not to mention the ear ache they will be giving you!
Long ago, when most homes had a piano sitting in the front room, they were tuned 2, 3 or even 4 times a year. Although pianos today seem more stable, they should still be tuned about every 6 months and certainly not left untuned for more than a year.
A piano strongly objects to infrequent tunings! After a long period of neglect, disapproval is shown by its not responding properly to just one tuning. If happiness for both you and your piano is what you are looking for, regular tuning should never be overlooked.
Don't upset an already grumpy piano. Delay will only make it worse. Do yourself and your piano a favour, arrange to have it tuned!
